MHWilds | Meals & Food Skills
Monster Hunter Wilds intoduces a few diffrent ways to eat a meal and how the meal effects last.
Hunters are no longer required to eat before every hunt. Now, once a meal is eaten the effects will last from 50 to up to 70 minutes depending on how the meal was made. In the top left Above your Health Bar will be an indicator showing how long the effect remains in effect. The food timer will also ONLY go down if you are out in the field. At Camp or in the Grand Hub the timer will NOT go down.

Meals
After each meal you consume, you will also gain 2 random skills as a bonus.
If your timer is almost up you can simply re-cook the meal to re-apply the Food effects.
You do NOT need to wait until the timer has run out in order to eat again.
Meals can be eaten as many times as you want so that the active skills can be switched out to suit your current hunt better.
All meals eaten will also give you a set amount of 50 Health and 150 Stamina.
Depending on the Meal type and / or what ingredients used you can also get an additional:
Attack, Defense and / or All Elemental Resistances up.
In some cases Food Skills Stack with an Armor Skill but cannot exceed the max level of the given skill.
Vouchers
Sometimes a village will invite you for a FREE meal. These meals are the same ones that can be ordered at the canteen in the grand hub. The meals in the Grand hub can be eaten at any point using vouchers.
And during a seasonal even will also provide a special meal only available within the event period.
Vouchers can be obtained Via:
- Daily Login.
- Arena Quests
- Some Event Quest
- Barrel Bowling at the Grand Hub
Meal Effects
Grilling a Meal
Hunters can now use the Portable BBQ Grill
to either cook a meal in their Camp or use it when out in the field. These meals last for 30 Minutes if only cooked using rations OR 50 minutes when making a full meal.
Costum Meals can be made and saved as Favorite for quick and easy access.
Grilling a meal consists of 3 steps.
- A Ration Which will give you a stat buff combination of either:
Attack, Defense or Defense and Elemental Resistance
50 Health and 150 Stamina.
And giving you a 30 Minute Effect Duration. - An Additional Ingredient that will give a Food Skill and depending on the quality of the food will give you either a Low (Lo) or High (Hi) effect.
Adding an extra 20 Minutes to the Effect Duration. - The Finishing Touches, which will give a second Food Skill.
+5 Element Resistance to all elements
All of the ingredients can be obtained while out gathering from items with a ”?” Mark on them OR be traded for with the villages (which can be unlocked by certain Side Missions) OR can be obtained by doing certain Event Quest

Grand Hub Canteen & Village Meals
Meals eaten in the Grand Hub Canteen will always give you a set amount of skills.
These can also be eaten at one of the villages for free in invited. And require a Voucher to order a meal.
Once a pick-a-meal Voucher
is used to eat a meal all other hunters in the same Gathering Hub can eat the same meal for free.
The meals from the villages are also the only 4 that will guarantee the Insurance Skill.
Once a meal has been eaten you will also gain 2 random skills.

These are skills that will be added to your meal at random. Getting lucky in obtaining a good skill is needed.
These skills are a nice little extra but not something you can count on.
As an exception some of these will appear on a dish from the Festival of accord meals.
