MHStories 3 | Side Stories
Side Stories are personal questlines for each of your Ranger companions and are indicated by a yellow icon, unlocking one by one as you travel through new regions. They’re entirely optional, but skipping them means missing out on new weapons, upgraded skills, crafting recipes, and even a second Monstie for each companion. Think of them less as side content and more as the stories that make your teammates stronger after every chapter that you complete.
Each companion has four chapters. Each chapter, a little more of who they are comes into focus.
You will not be able to advance the main story while taking part in a side story.
Her four-chapter arc follows the hunt for the Gale Force Porkers — a gang of runaway Poogies who, for reasons best left unexplained, have decided the best way to settle things is through racing. Yes, racing. On foot. Across three regions. Each chapter pits you against a new Poogie challenger on an increasingly chaotic track, with Zoomshrooms as your best friends and Slowedstools as your worst enemies. It’s the lightest storyline of the bunch, and honestly one of the most fun.
Important note: Beating a Poogie in a race will add them to your Poogie count. So be sure to do these to get all 100.
Chapter 1
Ch. 1 – The Gale Force Porkers: Swift Swine.
After speaking with Thea she will inform you that a Poogie Has been spotted in the Broadleaf Basin in Azuria.
Head over there and you will then engage in a race with the poogie. Doing 2 Laps. Picking up the Red Mushrooms grats you a boost of speed while the Purple ones slow you down.

Chapter 2
Ch. 2 – Shai of Sheparden: Find the Missing Shai. Then locate and race against Bullet Bacon in the Canalta Timberland on a simple circular track, now with Slowedstools that sap your momentum if you run through them.

Chapter 3
Ch. 3 – The Tarkuan Trotters: A Blood Orange Bishaten is scaring off the next Poogie in Tarkuan.
It is Level 58 so be prepared to defeat it. It uses Speed Attacks and Power once engraged. After taking it down it’s time to race against Presto Piggy on a faster, more obstacle-heavy track.

Chapter 4
Ch. 4 – One to Go: The final race is back in Azuria against Boss Hog — the toughest course yet, full of tight turns, Slowedstools, and boulders. This time Thea herself will be the one doing the racing. Winning reunites the Gale Force Porkers and brings Thea’s storyline to a warm conclusion.

Story Cutscene:
Kora is a renowned geologist who also enjoys spelunking, and her questline sends you deep into cave networks across the regions.
Each Chapter gives you acces to a new dungeon and can take 15–20 minutes to navigate fully,
the monsters found inside are a little bit higher level then their normal selfs.
Important note: You may also encounter a new monster earlier then of it’s normal location.

Ch. 1 – A Rocky Past: In Azuria, Explore the Unexplored Cavern in Broadleaf Basin, fighting through Monsters until you reach a Gypceros.
It uses Power Moves and switches to Technique once enraged. Bring Fire or Ice weapons will help.
You will also encounter Brachydios inside for an early farmable spot.

Chapter 2
Ch. 2 – Kora’s Gunlance: Venture into the Subterranean River in Canalta Timberland to face a Khezu, which charges up powerful Thunder attacks. it uses Technique Moves and switches to Power once enraged. Bring Fire weapons and watch out for paralysis.

Chapter 3
Ch. 3 – Cave Kids: The Scaling Cave in Rococo Rocks located in Tarkuan holds a Shogun Ceanataur.
It use Speed Attacks With it’s Shell still intact and will switch to Technique when it loses it’s shell.
And finally it will start using Power moves when it has a Seashell. BringThunder or Fire weapons to exploit it’s weakness.
You will also be able to encounter some Rachnoids early.

Chapter 4
Ch. 4 – A Sense of Belonging: Navigate the maze-like Frigid Pit in the Glacial Caps, avoid patrolling Deviljho, and face a Diablos at the end. Diablos uses Power Attacks and switches to Speed when enraged. Bringing Ice or Water Weapons will make it easier to take down.

Story Cutscene:
Eleanor’s questline tasks you with sourcing rare ingredients for the Rangers’ kitchen. Most chapters involve using Lookout Point telescopes to spot items and monsters scattered across the map. Once spotted the game indicates the location and will have a light indicator to make finding what you need easier.
Important note: Not all monster materials requires you to battle, some times a breath attack also works.

Ch. 1 – The Proof Is in the Dumpling: Scan the area from a telescope to locate Sucklebugs and Witherweed, then Hunt or use a Breath Attack on Paolumu for a Molted Gumshell. A straightforward intro to the ingredient-hunting format.

Ch. 2 – The Feast Can Wait: Track down and either Hunt or Breath attack Arzuros for Aged Royal Jelly , Mellowcaps under a distinctive red-leafed tree, and Take down a Yian Garuga stomach on Mt. Canalta.

Ch. 3 – Bitter Food, Bitter Memories: Gather Hoary Bones across the oasis, buy Poignant Piquant from a sandship vendor, and hunt an Ajarakan in the mines for its Gallbladder.

Ch. 4 – Rangers’ Reminiscence: No telescopes this time — the finale sends you straight into three back-to-back hunts: a Magnamalo, a Feral Aknosom, and an Almudron. A fitting and action-packed conclusion to Eleanor’s arc.

Story Cutscene:
Ogden’s questline revolves around a series of mysterious letters from an unknown sender, each describing sightings of unusual monsters known as Exotics. Curious, Ogden and the Player set out to verify whether these creatures truly exist. Each Exotic requires a specific trick to locate and engage.
Important note: The Exotic monsters do use diffrent moves and will have a diffrent mechanic to take them on.
Chapter 1
Ch. 1 – Letter from an Unknown Sender: An Exotic Velocidrome is spotted in Sunpetal Plains. It moves too fast to engage head-on — stand still beneath a nearby tree and let it come to you. Once the battle starts hitting it with a Double Attack will ensure a solid hit.

Chapter 2
Ch. 2 – Ogden’s Theory: An Exotic Seregios lurks in southwestern Canalta Timberland, but it only appears if you bring an Arzuros in your active party — and you’ll want to keep it there during the fight.
Keep in mind that during the fight this Seregios flips its attack type order. It will now use Speed attacks and the switch to Technique.
Keeping the Arzuros in to fight keeps the Exotic Seregios calm and focused on it.
Once Arzuros swaps out Seregios will get enraged.

Ch. 3 – The Sender’s Identity: An Exotic Legiana circles the pillars at Rococo Rocks in Tarkuan. Use a Breath attack to knock it out of the air, then target its wings to keep it grounded. Legiana will start the battle airborne. While in the air Legiana will use Big AOE attacks and use Technical attacks. Be sure to aim for the wings and break them to get it down to the ground ann get a chance to do big damage. Once on the ground Legiana will revert back to using Speed attacks.

Ch. 4 – The Truth Unfolds: The final Exotic, a Nibelsnarf, hides beneath the dirt in the icy Old Capital Road. Use a Roar field ability to draw it to the surface. The identity of the letter sender is finally revealed — and it’s not what either of them expected.

Gaul quietly handles everything himself. Your job is to step in and turn his routine errands into full-blown hunting expeditions. The questline reveals unexpected sides of Gaul’s character, including a surprising discovery about his Palico, Murray.
Chapter 1
Ch. 1 – Gaul’s Unexpected Side: Head to Sunpetal Plains and speak with an NPC named Lievin, who sends you to Mirror Lake to drive off a troublesome Purple Ludroth.
Purple Ludroth Uses Poison so bringing antidotes can help stay in the battle longer.
It also uses Power attacks and switches to Tech onces it becomes enraged.

Ch. 2 – A Request from Kol: A request from Master Kol in Sheparden leads you to the Frozen Grotto in Canalta Timberland to deal with a Tetranadon — and a surprising revelation about Murray. Rewards Gaul’s Ice Bow, Legia’s Tailwind skill, and the Key to Combos.

Ch. 3 – Rent Negotiations: Gaul has business at the Ministry of Eggs in Tarkuan that quickly turns into another errand, this time walking straight into a Shrouded Nerscylla ambush in the Bountiful Dunes mines. Rewards several powerful potion recipes and AMP upgrades to two of Gaul’s skills.
